Description
Moody Yachts (built by Marine Projects of Plymouth) need little introduction. The Moody Eclipse 38 is a well-founded deck saloon yacht with an identical hull to the very successful Moody 376.
The Moody Eclipse 38 packs a lot of accommodation and storage into its 11.43m length. Its design was way ahead of its time and it remains today an iconic, good-looking boat. The deck saloon makes her feel spacious and light and really pleasant to be aboard and the dual helm stations allow for the (sometimes not so great) weather to be suffered gladly.
This Moody Eclipse 38 Deck Saloon is a fine example of this beautiful and robust, go-anywhere yacht and at 11.43 x 3.96 x 1.37m, is not only big enough to safely cross oceans but is shallow enough to fight with the cats for an inshore anchorage when you arrive.
She's the first of class (1991) and has been extensively and meticulously maintained since she was purchased in 2016. Changing circumstances and the owners failing health now forces her sale. She is very clean, tidy and well-ordered. She is exceptionally well equipped with a full set of spares and there are manuals aboard for everything. She is ready to sail away.
Within the last 6 years she has been extensively maintained and updated. These were popular boats when they were built and remain sought after now. She is afloat in Licata, Sicily where berths are still less than 50% of those in the UK. It's a perfect spot with a great ex-pat community, a shopping mall on an adjacent site.
She is offered for sale following a lift-out (June 2022) for a hull pressure clean and rubbed down. The keel was stripped back to metal and 3-4 coats of epoxy undercoat and 2-3 coats of International Micron 350 were applied. The Propeller and shaft was stripped and polished, and two coats of propeller/shaft primer were applied before two coats of propeller anti-fouling. All anodes were replaced. The cockpit decking was replaced with good quality 5mm solid teak (Completed July 2022).
