Rogue Trader is a truly beautiful and unique yacht and has without fail received admiration in every port she entered! She is designed and built for the world’s oceans with a strong emphasis on comfortable, blue-water passage making. Her heavy frames and cold-moulded hull, professionally built and sheathed in glass, are built to safely withstand the heaviest of seas. With maintenance levels similar to that of a standard glass hull she has all the benefits and character of a wooden hull, without any of the downsides.
A proven passage maker, Rogue Trader has completed two Atlantic crossings and for the past three years has been cruising the Mediterranean. She currently lies in Alghero Sardinia. Equipped with full safety equipment for ocean sailing with a crew of six, she sits ready to go and waiting for the big adventures she was built for!
With a long keel and rugged ketch rig this boat will almost sail itself. By carefully balancing the sails she is capable of holding a course almost indefinitely, without input from the helm. Her balance is so good that her present owners have sailed for several years and thousands of nautical miles without an autopilot! (One can be
re-installed very easily.)
She is currently set up with basic but reliable systems that allow for easy maintenance and repair even in the most remote of locations. That said, she has an excess of space allowing for the installation of whatever systems her new owners may desire and as such represents a perfect blank canvas. Interior upgraded 2021/22. Rogue Trader was built over 21 years ago in Northern Ireland, to plans by Glen-L, an American designer. The initial owner employed professionals to complete the structural work and early fit-out under regular inspection by Lloyds to 100A1 standard. Due to financial difficulties, the boat passed through the hands of two additional owners before finally being launched in 2008. With the previous owner (who purchased in 2014), she has completed two Atlantic crossings (2016 & ‘17) - both West and East - and performed exceptionally well in both instances.
